Value
For ultimate quality assurance, site-installed fenestration and curtain-wall products
must be field tested for air infiltration, water leakage, and structural performance
in accordance with architect and industry specifications. Our thorough understanding of key
performance variables ensures architects, building owners, consultants, glazing
installers, and contractors that they are meeting contract obligations during new
construction or renovation and yields valuable insights to help resolve problems.
Architectural Testing routinely performs field tests of:
- Windows
- Doors
- Storefronts
- Curtain walls
- Sloped glazing systems
- Skylights
As well as specialty tests for:
- Anchor load
- Sealant adhesion
- Glass properties (bow, warp, roll wave)
- Insulating glass dew point
- Membrane roof systems

Innovations
Architectural Testing is unique in our ability to deploy technicians from ten strategic locations around
the country. That makes it easy and cost effective for us to reach any job site within 24
hours. To devise the best chamber test arrangement, our work begins before we arrive
at your job site. We carefully communicate with you to evaluate architectural details,
shop drawings, and preliminary photographs to ensure that
the appropriate test procedures
are applied. We take care of test equipment, equipment calibration, staging, access equipment, and scaffolding (if required) to ensure
that work proceeds smoothly.
If required for specific projects, Architectural Testing will modify standard procedures to test in
accordance with customer specifications. Architectural Testing also has a Forensic Services department
to perform investigative testing for identification of air or water leakage paths
on existing building envelopes.

Insights and Possibilities
Air and water tests are typically performed on building components and facades,
such as window assemblies, metal panel systems, storefronts, curtain walls, EIFS
walls, stone facades, roofs, and skylights. Often, these constructions are also tested
for structural integrity to confirm that the as-built specimen complies with the
design wind-pressure requirements. Testing may be performed at various stages
of construction, however it is desirable to test prior to the installation of finished
interior wall materials.
